Whether or not one has the appropriate Ham license to allow TX operation, one can (and should) listen. Below are links to Patriot based 'nets' that should be tuned in and listened to -

Amrron HF nets, voice and digital

ERPN USA, has changed a bit from the 'old' ERPN

I'd suggest tuning in once or more each month to verify operation of your equipment. Keeping it always stored away in the EMP proof box is a recipe for failure when needed most. Check all your gear regularly!

I'd like to know who wrote the content for the site. I'd be willing to bet they weren't around at the begining.

Sanitized version is an understatement. They didn't even mention who founded ERPN or why. Nor was there any mention of Bill Panck.

And, "8 sitreps". There are actually 52.

There were several names not mentioned, likely cause is the dates were prior to the Web editor having an Amateur license.

Here is a very true statement http://www.erpnusa.net/erpn-tips.html
quote:
If someone has to relay for you because of poor propagation or excessive noise, keep your transmissions short. Long transmissions are difficult to relay and most of your comments will get lost in the relay.
Just 1 sentence will likely be 'summarized' when relayed, perhaps missing a meaning. Which is exactly why digital is so important, easy to resend the text EXACTLY as received.
